Administrativ historik Bro socken har medeltida ursprung. Socknen tillhörde Bro ting som i sin tur ingick i Bro setting i Nordertredingen . Vid kommunreformen 1862 övergick socknens ansvar för de kyrkliga frågorna till Bro församling och för de borgerliga frågorna bildades Bro landskommun.

Bro kyrka och kyrkogård ligger vackert och bjuder på en vidsträckt utsikt över den natur som omgärdar Bro samhälle och på långt håll skymtar Mälarens vatten. Bro kyrka ligger i Väskinde församling i Region Gotland. Kyrkan är en av öns mest välbesökta, då man i en och samma kyrka kan få se spår av flera hundra års kyrko-trender. Kyrkan byggdes under 1100-talet på en urgammal kultplats. På 1200- och 1300-talet byggdes kyrkan om i mer gotisk stil, men stenarna från den äldre kyrkan återanvändes.

Situated on what was possibly a pre-Christian sacred site, the presently visible church was built during the 13th century.
