THE FINAL COPY OF THE UTRECHT PSALTER. AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE UTRECHT. AND EADWINE PSALTERS (*) (Paris, B.N. LAT. 8846, ca. 1170-1190) One of the most celebrated and delightful of all illuminated manuscripts is the Utrecht Psalter (J) which has no less than 166 pictures, each composed of numerous vivacious scenes, and which was made at Reims, probably between 816 and 823.

The Utrecht Psalter is a book of psalms dating to the Carolingian dynasty. It's one of the crown jewels of the Utrecht University Library collection. In October 2015 the Utrecht Psalter was added to the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. The richly illustrated, handwritten book was created nearly 1,200 years ago.
